The story of water is an ancient and sacred one. All life is water, from the birth of all living creatures and the earth itself. It is a gift from the Creator to all life forms.

While we are in the womb we are encases in water and with that water we are delivered into this world.

All life forms depend on water to survive. We as humans are mostly made up of water and to remain healthy, we must maintain its presence. Water is medicine put here for all life.

Historically, Aboriginal people greatly respected water and depended on it for many different things in their life. It is honored through song, prayers and ceremony. We are in a relationship, a very vital one on which our lives depend.

Water provides many other gifts for the people. It served as a highway as represented by the canoe for travel from place to place for harvesting food and wild plants represented by trees and bull rushes. In the early days water provided activities for trapping and the fur trade commerce. All life needs water for drinking, cleansing and purifying represented by the lake and clouds.

Rivers, lakes, streams and the mighty oceans all have a rightful place on this planet and should be respected and loved for their life sustaining gifts.
